The main objective of this role is to keep victims and witnesses informed throughout the criminal justice process in accordance with the Victims Code and the Witnesses Charter.
This is a challenging and rewarding position in a customer-focused environment. The Witness Care Manager will support and educate victims and witnesses throughout the court process. A needs assessment is carried out for each victim and witness required to testify in court to identify the level of support required, this may involve referrals for pre-trial visits, requests for special measures, arrangements for interim assessments and interpreters to assist in the trial. The post holder will be expected to liaise with the Crown Prosecution Service, HMCS, Victim Support, Probation Service, frontline police officers and other specialist departments.
It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Demonstrate an understanding of the criminal justice system
- Experience dealing with people from diverse backgrounds, with varying needs and varying abilities
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a customer-focused environment
- Ability to work on own initiative to find solutions while working to set standards
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working to high levels of precision and quality standards
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret information from a number of sources identifying gaps or gaps
- Administrative and organizational skills to prioritize and manage workloads within deadlines
- Good command of the keyboard with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Outlook and Excel
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
- Knowledge of data protection principles
- An understanding of the impact of crime on the various communities served by the team
- Understanding Mental Health Awareness
- Knowledge of the principles of equality and diversity

Working hours are 37 hours per week from Monday to Friday. This position is offered on a permanent basis.
It will be considered whether the position can be offered on a part-time or job-sharing basis, in accordance with the organizational requirements of this role.
