London [England]Feb 24 (ANI): The UK and its allies will respond decisively to Russia’s “unprovoked” attack on Ukraine, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Thursday.
Taking to his Twitter account, Johnson said he was appalled by the horrific events in Ukraine and spoke with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss next steps.
“President Putin has chosen a path of bloodshed and destruction in launching this unprovoked attack on Ukraine. The UK and our allies will respond decisively,” he said.
This tweet comes shortly after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a “special military operation to protect Donbass” in eastern Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine’s UN ambassador called on its members to “stop the war” at an emergency meeting of the Security Council.
“It is the responsibility of this body to stop the war. So I call on each of you to do everything possible to stop the war,” Ukrainian envoy Sergiy Kyslytsya was quoted by CNN as saying. meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC).
